Graham Arnold's era got off to a winning start with a 4-0 defeat of Kuwait in the early hours of Tuesday morning (AEDT) at a near empty Al Kuwait Sports Club Stadium. An own goal started the rout before Apostolos Giannou scored his first Socceroos goal, Tomi Rogic added a third and Awer Mabil capped it off wth a strike on debut.
Arnold mxed things up in the second half and with the introduction of Daniel Arzani just after the hour the Kuwaitis were again back on their heels. Fringe Socceroos Mustafa Amini and Alex Gersbach were back in action for the Green and Gold, while it was a huge night for debutants Thomas Deng and Mabil - both former Sudanese refugees.
