EXCLUSIVE: It’s not just Holger Osieck who fancies the A-League – Queensland based German pair Thomas Broich and Peter Perchtold can’t believe the intensity of Australia’s six-year-old competition.

Broich has fitted beautifully into Premiers Brisbane Roar’s set-up and has set the A-League alight with his creativity and goals.
And the feeling is mutual from the former Borussia Moenchengladbach, Nurnberg and Koln player.
“There is no team that just would give up a game. That’d never happen in Australia and I kinda like that.
“I really love the attitude and mentality here. It’s so intense and everyone is working so hard on the pitch. Absolutely I like that,” he told au.fourfourtwo.com at today's launch of the A-League finals series.
“We had the discussion earlier about the league being too physical and that’s true sometimes but that’s part of the Australian spirit.”
Broich was adamant Australia’s domestic competition – now at the business end of the season - was a physically tougher proposition than in Germany.
A surprising admission but one Broich is convinced is true.
“Everyone thinks we’d play harder in Germany but it’s not even close. I talked to Peter Perchtold who recently joined Gold Coast and he said the same thing.
“Even in training he had some tackles he had never had in his life and every challenge in the air is like a battle.
“There is nothing to worry about in terms of potential in this league.”
Broich kicks off his first finals campaign in Australia with a visit to Central Coast this weekend.
While his focus is firmly on the Bluetongue contest, he's still getting his head around the first past the post and finals concept in Australia.
“[The finals] it feels a little like the German Cup, maybe. Obviously we’ve won the league and that’s not at all a minor achievement.
“It is completely strange. Winning the league is not a minor thing. But this finals series is just another big thing to achieve.”
With a career thankfully free of major injury Broich, who turned 30 on January 29, said he can play for another five or six years.
Currently he expects to be in the A-League for at least two more years.
The Munich-born former German U/21 nominated Robbie Kruse, Matt McKay and Matt Leckie as his favourite locals. Carlos Hernandez and Marcos Flores his pick of the overseas contingent.
The Roar star added: “One reason I wanted to leave Germany was sometimes when you play for a team at the bottom of the table the pressure gets really big and people hammer on you all the time.
“I wanted to leave that behind and just enjoy being a footballer again.”
