Adelaide-born Socceroo Ryan McGowan said he was excited at the prospect of playing the blockbuster in his hometown as Australia continues its charge to Russia 2018.

He called on Adelaide football fans to turn out in their droves.

“To represent Australia on home soil is a magical feeling and do it in the city that you grew up in is even better,’ he said. “There is nothing better than running out and playing in the Green and Gold in front of your family and friends in your hometown.

“We will be getting to the business end of the qualification campaign and to have a large vocal home support could be the difference in our bid to qualify for the FIFA World Cup. I’m sure that my fellow South Australians will be there in numbers to cheer us on.”

FFA boss David Gallop said he was delighted South Australians would have another chance to support the Socceroos.

“I’m looking forward to being a part of another large crowd at Adelaide Oval. It is a magnificent theatre for sport and a fitting venue for this very important match,” he said.

“We saw the passion from the fans last season at the Hyundai A-League 2016 Grand Final and we saw it again when more than 35,000 people came along to see the Socceroos beat Tajikistan in March.”

Tickets go on pre-sale to the Football Family with a 10% discount Tuesday afternoon (4pm ACDT).
