With Liverpool support staff arriving in the next day, Brendan Rodgers’s squad is set to arrive in Melbourne at midnight this Sunday.
 
The team hotel at the Grand Hyatt is bracing for noisy fans greeting the team while events will be happening around town for players and fans ahead of the historic first ever Liverpool game in Australia. 
 
On game day, a fan march will take place with an estimated 20,000 Liverpool fans marching from near Crown Casino to Federation Square and onto the MCG.
 
Pre-match festivities will include DJs. It’s all set to begin at noon near Crown.
 
And the MCG will have an Anfield look about it next Wednesday night with the famous Shankly Gates being recreated for fans to walk through on the night. 
 
There will also be a Warrior sponsored clinic next Monday, featuring Ian Rush and Robbie Fowler to be held at South Melbourne’s ground at Lakeside.
 
And The Anfield Wrap on tour podcast will play two gigs in Melbourne. 
 
The night before the game at the Hilton on the Park, TAW will feature Craig Johnston and live music including cast members of Neighbours. 
 
And on Sunday, July 21, it will be at the Portland Hotel, with a stripped back audience Q&A with Craig Johnston.
 
Melbourne’s Crown Casino on the Monday night has the “Celebrate Liverpool FC Downunder” event. This will also feature the Bootleg Beatles, one of the world’s best Beatles tribute bands.
 
The evening also features a host of former NSL stars coming together to celebrate a special few days in the southern capital.
 
“We’ve had the British Lions fans in town recently, now we’re going to see Melbourne painted red again, this time with Liverpool fever taking over,” tour promoter Lou Sticca told au.fourfourtwo.com.
 
“We’ll be turning the city red. The Liverpool invasion is about to begin.”
