Football Federation Australia is investigating claims that Dutch midfielder Roly Bonevacia was racially abused in Western Sydney’s 2-2 draw with Adelaide United on Boxing Day.
Post-match, Wanderers attacker Bonevacia called out the offenders on Twitter writing: “Next time keep the racist comments to yourself @AdelaideUnited fans!! Don’t ruin the game! #sayno”.
Both clubs were quick to condemn the alleged racial slurs made in Dutch and said they were working with the FFA to ferret out the culprits.
Just last month Brisbane Roar goalkeeper Jamie Young was subjected to racist abuse from a Wanderers supporter.

Adelaide United released a statement saying they were aware of the incident at Coopers Stadium on Wednesday and were “working closely with Western Sydney Wanderers FC and Football Federation Australia to gain a complete understanding of what has occurred".
“Adelaide United condemns any form of racist or non-inclusive remarks and will not tolerate it at its fixtures.”
Wanderers said they had spoken with their player regarding an incident in the second half.
“The club can confirm that discussions have taken place with Football Federation Australia (FFA) and the Adelaide United Football Club regarding this behaviour.
“Investigations regarding the source of the abuse have commenced. The club would like to thank the Adelaide United Football Club and FFA for their immediate support in regards to this incident. We all stand together against racism.”
FFA said it was “working closely” with both clubs and venue management.
“FFA condemns any form of racist or non-inclusive remarks and will not tolerate it at any time.”
