AFTER his five-game stint in the Phoenix dugout, Chris Greenacre says nothing can adequately prepare a coach for being thrown into an A-League coaching hot-seat, as he explained to FFT.
Greenacre, who went from rookie assistant to head coach at Wellington Phoenix after Ricki Herbert resigned with five games left last season, has spoken with FourFourTwo about his A-League coaching experience.
“This has been the best learning curve I could’ve had,” he tells the new FourFourTwo magazine out now.
“Until I was given the opportunity I didn’t know if management was the direction I wanted to take, or if I had found my comfort zone as a number two.
“I will not be afraid of taking a head coach role in the future if it ever arises,” says the former striker, who retired at the end of last season.
His five game stint as head coach at Wellington is analysed by the coach himself who takes readers through the experience from the inside.
It’s a view of the A-League not often seen as Greenacre takes us through his hastily lead plans to prepare the side, his philosophy and how he dealt with the media, coaching staff, owners and players.
