NEW Australia coach Pim Verbeek has admitted the A-League Socceroos might not be good enough after being shocked by the howlers he saw over Christmas.
Verbeek today named his training camp of A-League players ahead of drawing up a squad list for the first qualifier against Qatar on February 6.
But he admitted none of the local players might make the final cut unless they can show they won't repeat their errors under big game conditions.
"I enjoyed every game I've seen, the stadiums are fantastic, the crowds are unbelievable," said Verbeek.
"I saw great goals, but I saw also unbelievable mistakes.
"It's up to me to find out if the players make that same mistake too many times because then I cannot use them.
"If it's a normal mistake like sometimes every human being makes, then it's a different story."
Verbeek still hopes to field an A-League based squad for the Qatar game but has vowed to call in the Euroroos if the local standard just isn't good enough.
"It's possible," he admitted. "It's also possible that I select every player from Europe.
"They are all available. They are all very willing to come, but the only problem is they can arrive a few days before the game and that's the biggest issue. It's too early now to make up my mind.
"Is it necessary to bring a player from England over here if he can give us more possibility to win the game? Maybe then I will ask (Tim) Cahill to come over here.
"But if I think I can do it with (John) Aloisi, (Archie) Thompson and (Joel) Griffiths, then I will leave Cahill in England."
