FFA has announced the A-League will break for the international friendly window next season.
This decision brings the A-League in line with other major leagues around the world, but will result in a later start date - the 2018/19 season will commence on October 19.
The 2019 A-League Grand Final will be held on May 18/19.
This will push the competition's end date and subsequent finals series further into the AFL season, however FFA CEO David Gallop believes it has significant benefits.
“With our broadcasters and commercial partners we have been conscious always of the need to balance the benefits of week to week continuity in the league against the benefits of stopping for international breaks,” Gallop said.
“After extensive discussions with the clubs and with FOX SPORTS over recent weeks we have all agreed to incorporate the international breaks.”
