Match analysis: Australia v Cameroon

Juric admitted the Socceroos let the chance of a vital victory in Saint Petersburg slip. "It was a missed opportunity for us," he said post-game.

"We spoke about it before the game that this was a good chance for us to put our foot forward on the competition. We let it slip. A bit of lack of concentration towards the end of the first half gave them that psychological edge going into that second half.

"If they didn’t score that we’re breaking down the second half and we can really win the game from there. I don't think Cameroon deserved to win it. We had, at one point, maybe 70% of the ball. To me that doesn't look like a team that deserves to edge it.

"It's just those little things we need to improve on."

Juric led Australia's forward line and came in for heavy treatment from the Cameroon defence throughout the match. The striker believed the African side got away with a lot of handling and holding that could have been penalised.

"The whole game I mentioned it to the referee," he said.

"I saw against Chile they were handling a lot. All the time on you, touching you, it just makes it really, really difficult it every aspect for you. Especially the way we play. They’re really tight on you and you can see they’re so physical. They’re just specimens mate.

"They can run all day and they’re really a quick bunch of boys. The ref had a bit of shocker. He was Serbian as well, I had a word with him. Just some decisions that were a little bit poor. (But) he did his job to the best of his ability.

"He did what he thought was right, but I thought his performance could have been a little bit better."
