Fans of South Melbourne are in for a treat this Sunday when the first NPL double header ever held at AAMI Park kicks off.
South’s women are set to take on Alamein FC at 4pm followed by the men's clash with traditional rivals Heidelberg United which is scheduled for 6pm.
It comes as the Brazilian national team are using South’s facilities to train in their friendlies against Argentina and Australia.
South’s vice-captain Michael Eagar is looking forward to the crucial clash as South, third, meet a table-topping Heidelberg with a game in hand from second-place Bentleigh Greens.
"It's a huge day for the club, with both our men and women gaining exposure to AAMI Park,” Eagar said on Tuesday.
“We get a chance to also play our biggest rivals Heidelberg in what is shaping up to be a massive contest.
“We hope to see as many fans out supporting the club as possible during this fantastic initiative.”
South continue to bang the drum, just last week they announced Real Madrid legend Roberto Carlos would coach the club should FFA give the green light for them to come into the A-League.
And despite it being South men’s home game, it is technically Alamein who host South in NPLW, a change to where they usually play at HA Smith Reserve in Hawthorn.
W-League Melbourne City midfielder Amy Jackson is on Alamein’s list this season and is looking forward to a return to AAMI Park.

“It's a wonderful opportunity to showcase women's football and we thank those involved for making it happen,” Jackson said.
“We're all excited at Alamein for a massive test on the big stage and look forward to Sunday on AAMI Park.”
Also on show will be high-profile talent such as Alexandra Gummer, Alex Cheal, Caitlin Doeglas and Young Matildas stars Melina Ayres and Ashleigh Lefevre and Matildas co-captain Lisa De Vanna.
De Vanna, who joined South in April knows AAMI Park and Lakeside Stadium well after previously winning a W-League titles with Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City.
The veteran added: “It’s been a long time coming, but it’s great to finally see a WNPL game get equal billing at Victoria’s premier football arena AAMI Park.”
