Reports earlier this week suggested chief Adriano Galliani had met with the former Barcelona trainer and his agent to discuss a potential move.

But the 2010/11 Serie A champions have acted quickly to deny such rumours.

"AC Milan deny recently released media stories of a meeting between club officials, in particular club CEO Adriano Galliani, and Mr. Guardiola or his agent," a statement on the club's website reads.

Allegri's position has come under fire following AC Milan's disappointing start to the 201/-13 campaign, and the San Siro side supposedly see Guardiola as the perfect replacement.

The 41-year-old left Barcelona at the end of the 2011/12 campaign in order to take a one-year sabbatical, and lives in New York as he enjoys his break away from the game.
