Masato Yamazaki's strike 13 minutes from time completed a come-from-behind 2-1 victory for Gamba Osaka over Al Karama in the first-leg of their 2008 Asian Champions League quarter-final tie at Khaled Ibn Al Waleed stadium on Wednesday.
Belal Abduldaim had put the hosts in front after just seven minutes and they held the lead until the 70th minute when Satoshi Yamaguchi levelled for the visitors.
The turnaround was then completed as Yamazaki found the net in the 77th minute.
Gamba had started the game brightly, with Lucas Severino heading wide after only three minutes following good work from Hideo Hashimoto.
However, Al Karama's first serious attack led to a goal as Abduldaim's free-kick brought about a corner which he himself got up to head home.
Gamba streamed forward in search of an earlier equaliser but left gaps at the back and it was Al Karama who looked the more dangerous as the crossbar kept out Oudah's vicious shot just before the half-hour mark.
Masob Balhous kept out Yasuhito Endo's free-kick to keep the hosts in front at half-time.
Gamba continued to push forward after the break but their frustrations continued as Balhous was there again to deny Hashimoto after good work from Ronieliton Pereira Santos.
Al Karama then came close to doubling their lead as Yosuke Fujigaya got his fingertips to Haani Al Taiar's effort before his defenders completed the job.
However, Gamba got their reward for all their pressure 20 minutes from time as Endo's corner found the head of Yamaguchi and Balhous was easily beaten.
The visitors were celebrating again seven minutes later as Yamazaki got the better of Feras Ismail to break into the box before dispatching a low shot into the net.
