A second-half fightback from Pohang Steelers got their campaign up and running as they won 4-1 at Binh Duong in Group E.
The unfancied home side had taken a shock lead from the penalty spot early in the first-half with Lima converting.
A brace of penalties from Denilson in the second-half set the Steelers on their way, with Kim Jae-sung and Choi Hyo-jin making the scoreline more emphatic.
The visitors conceded a fourth-minute goal against Adelaide United last week and it was a case of deja vu, as V-League outfit Binh Duong took the lead with just 11 minutes on the clock.
Home defender Lee Chang-won committed a foul in the box and the referee immediately pointed to the spot. Brazilian striker Lima stepped up and coolly sent his spot-kick under the arm of goalkeeper Shin Hwa-yong and into the net.
Pohang thought they had equalised soon after. Jae-sung glanced a corner into the net, only to be shown the yellow card by the referee for controlling the ball with his hand.
The visitors upped the tempo after the restart. In the 51st minute, they were awarded a penalty of their own. Another Brazilian striker in Denilson also made no mistake from the spot.
It took just seven minutes for Pohang to add a second. Namkung beat goalkeeper Anh to a speculative cross into the box, which landed at the feet of an unmarked Kim Jae-sung who fired home.
Two minutes later they scored a third, Denilson again converting from the penalty spot.
And Pohang rounded off their display in style when a short corner was played to Choi Hyo-jin on the edge of the box and the defender sent a curling effort into the corner of the net.
