The K-League champions fielded only two players from the side that beat Binh Duong 4-1 back in March but still created plenty of chances, only to see front pair Lee Kwang-jae and Ryu Chang-hyun waste them.

The closest they came to scoring was six minutes from time when Cho Han-bum found the net, only to have the effort chalked off for offside.

The result leaves Pohang in a disappointing third place in Group E with Binh Duong bringing up the rear.

Pohang should have taken all three points from this game but blew a string of chances in front of goal.

The first came after just six minutes as Ryu Chang-hyun fired wide after being released by Lee Kwang-jae.

Kwon Jip's 18th-minute header was on its way in when it struck Lee Chang-won and bounced for goalkeeper Nguyen The Anh to make the save.

Lee then missed a pair of chances, firing wide in the 23rd minute before his header came back off the crossbar on the half-hour mark.

Anh then made a fine save to deny Ryu.

The profligacy in front of goal continued into the second half as Kwon conspired to miss an easy chance in front of goal before Lee again found the woodwork, this time heading against the post.

Cho thought he had scored in the 84th minute having latched on to Ryu's throughball to fire home, only to be denied by the assistant referee.
