Otman Bakkal had given Feyenoord a 36th minute lead before Rasmus Elm restored parity for the home side on the hour mark but with five minutes remaining, Brett Holman proved to be the hero. His header left Erwin Mulder with no chance and ensured all three points for the home side.

In the Chinese Super League, Adam Griffiths and former Perth Glory defender, Dino Dulbic went head-to-head in Hangzhou Lucheng’s goalless draw at home to Shaanxi Chanba. Griffiths had to be substituted in the 26th minute after picking up an injury with Zheng Kewei replacing the former Jets man.

Elsewhere in China, Dean Heffernan put in a full shift as Lioning Hongyun defeated Chengdu Blades 1-0 courtesy of 45th minute Yang Xu goal. Jonas Salley and Brendon Santalab also put in full shifts for Chengdu who sit three points adrift of safety.

Luke DeVere was again at the heart of Gyeongnam’s defence as they played out a 0-0 draw with struggling Gangwon in the K-League. Gyeongnam remain winless in five games and come up against Busan l’Park next weekend.

Former Sydney and Adelaide defender Iain Fyfe was not in the Busan l’Park squad that travelled to Gwangju. Busan were held to a 2-2 draw

In a clash that could have involved two Aussies, Seongnam ended their two game winless streak with a 3-2 win at home to the Chunnam Dragons. Sasa Ognenovski was forced to watch from the stands after his red card last week while Robert Cornthwaite was also serving a suspension.

Over in the J2-League, Socceroo Mark Milligan was unavailable for JEF United’s 1-0 win over Giravanz Kitakyushu. Milligan served the last of his two game suspension after accumulating 8 yellow cards for the season.

Staying with Japan’s second division and Jade North was not in the match day squad for FC Tokyo who proved too strong for Yokohama, defeating the sixteenth placed side 3-0. Toyko remain top, four points ahead of Mark Milligan’s JEF United.

To Europe now, where Socceroo Carl Valeri could not prevent Sassuolo suffering a 2-1 loss at home to Bari. The result leaves Sassuolo in sixth place in Italy’s Serie B.

In the Czech Liga, Kerem Bulut played the first forty-five minutes in Mlada Boleslav’s 1-1 draw at home to Hradec Kralove. Boleslav sit in eighth position, nine points behind league leaders Sparta Praha.

In the Croatian 1.HNL, Ljubo Milicevic completed a full 90 minutes in Hajduk Split’s 4-1 drubbing of Slaven Koprivnica at the Stadion Poljud. Dinamo Zagreb are still setting the pace in Croatia, sitting five points ahead of Hajduk with nine matches played.

To Germany and Nikita Rukavytsya failed to see action as Hertha Berlin ended the match with nine men in their 2-1 loss away to Werder Bremen. Hertha had taken a third minute lead through Ramos but Werder soon hit back thanks to Pizarro in the 23rd minute. Things soon turned sour for Hertha with Red cards to Lell and goal scorer Ramos in the space of seven minutes forcing the hand Marcus Babbel. The numerical advantage proved too much as Pizarro struck the winner in the 93rd minute.

In Russia, Socceroo Luke Wilkshire put in a full shift as 10-man Dinamo Moscow went down to Krylya Sovetov 1-0 thanks to an 11th minute goal from Sergey Kornilenko. Moscow failed to make up ground on Zenit and are five points adrift of top spot.

In the Danish Superliga, Nathan Coe kept a clean sheet in Sonderjyske’s goalless draw against HB Koge.

Over in nearby Sweden, Ante Covic was helpless from the bench as Elfsborg travelled to Mjallby and suffered a 2-1 defeat. 

Nathan Burns did not feature in the AEK Athens squad that travelled to PAOK in the Greek Super League. AEK were comfortably beaten 3-0 by the league leaders.

Across in Cyprus, Danny Invincibile played a full 90 minutes but could not prevent Ermis Aradippou from suffering their second straight defeat. Ermis remain at the foot of the Cypriot first division.
