Adam Looking Forward to Bright Scotland Future

Charlie Adam hopes this weekend's clash with Brazil will be just one of many special occasions to come for him with Scotland.

The Blackpool midfielder is set to earn his ninth cap when the two countries meet at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

The 25-year-old is currently in La Manga with the rest of the squad for a training camp before the clash in London.

Adam said: "I think making your debut (is a proud moment), but every time I step out on the pitch for my country is a proud moment.

"As a kid you grow up and wonder if you'll get the opportunity to play for your country and I'm very fortunate that I've done it.

"I just hope I've got many more special occasions ahead of me."

Scotland head into the game following back-to-back 3-0 wins over the Faroe Islands and Northern Ireland and Adam has urged them to do themselves justice when they come face to face with Brazil.

Both teams meet for the first time since the 1998 World Cup in France when an own-goal from Tom Boyd saw the Scots suffer an agonising 2-1 defeat to the then world champions in Paris.

That World Cup opener is the only meeting between the two countries Adam can actually remember, but he is well aware of past efforts against Brazil, including David Narey's famous 'toe-poke' back in 1982.

And the midfielder wants Craig Levein's class of 2011 to put on a show against the Brazilians on Sunday.

He told www.blackpoolfc.co.uk: "At France 98 we lost in Paris but that's the only game I really remember.

"David Narey's toe-poke against Brazil made him a legend!

"I just hope the current squad we've got now is good enough to put up a good show and get a good performance.

"It'll be a fantastic occasion and hopefully I'll get the opportunity to play.

"Brazil are one of the best teams in the world and they've got some of the best players.

"It's great that I've been picked for the squad and hopefully we'll get the right result."

Ticket sales hit 30,000 earlier this month and thousands of Scotland fans will descend on the capital for the highly-anticipated clash this weekend.

"It'll be like a home game and I'll be looking forward to it," added Adam.

"They always say Scotland fans go for a good time.

"They'll be there in their numbers to support the team and hopefully we'll get a good result for them and they can have a great weekend.

"I've got a lot of family and friends going to the game.
