Adam was one of Scotland's top performers as they staged an impressive comeback to defeat Wales 3-1 last night, and they will now do battle with the Republic of Ireland for the silverware on Sunday night.

Scotland were convincing 3-0 winners in their opening match against Northern Ireland, and Adam told Press Association Sport: "I think the organisers wanted that.

"We played some terrific football in the first game against Northern Ireland and we played well again against Wales and created a lot of chances.

"Hopefully it's set up well for a good game against the Republic. If we can get the right result, we will be able to enjoy winning another trophy.

"The important thing for me just now is enjoying the two games for Scotland, try to get two wins, and hopefully get a bit of silverware.

"Then I can go on holiday with a smile on my face because it's been a long time since we have actually won a trophy."

Adam is well aware that plenty of other players have come through long, hard seasons as well and, with Kris Commons and Craig Mackail-Smith the only withdrawals from the squad, he paid tribute to the commitment of those players who have made the trip to Dublin.

He said: "You've got to remember a couple of the lads stopped playing a couple of weeks ago and it's difficult for them to get back into it.

"Some of them have been on holiday and come back and the effort they have shown to come back and want to play for their country has been terrific.

"I thought we played well and hopefully we are on the right road again after the disappointment of the Brazil game. We are looking forward to Sunday now.

"You can see the turnout from the lads. We've had two call-offs and one of those was because of the play-offs.

"That's testament to the other lads who have come here to play. It just shows that everybody wants to play for their country, they are enjoying it and hopefully we can get results. We really enjoy it when we are getting good results."

Adam has meanwhile cast doubt over his future at Blackpool by expressing a desire to remain in the Barclays Premier League next season.

The Seasiders lost their fight against the drop when defeat to Manchester United sealed their relegation from the top flight on the final day of the campaign.

He said: "My future is that I want to play in the Premier League. I want to play at the top and hopefully the opportunity comes.

"At the end of the day, my future will get sorted one way or another. It's not me who makes that decision.

"It's important that, whatever happens, I will always remember my time at Blackpool."
