Nigeria international Olubayo Adefemi has been killed in a car accident, the Greek Football Federation announced today.
Greek media report that the 25-year-old Xanthi defender skidded off a road this morning while driving to Salonika to finalise arrangements for his wedding.
Adefemi joined Xanthi from French side Boulogne last summer and had made 24 league appearances this season, scoring twice.
A statement on www.epo.gr said: "The Greek Football Federation expresses its grief at the untimely death of Nigerian international and Skoda Xanthi footballer Olubayo Adefemi in a car accident this morning.
"United, the members of the Greek Football Federation board and family express the sincerest of condolences to his family and relatives, and also to Xanthi."
