Defender Paul Pezos could yet be added to the Adelaide United roster but speculation surrounding two former Knights is wide of the mark.
By Jon Ritson
Club officials have confirmed that former Pezos has been training with the squad but there is nothing concrete on the table.
Media manager Dom Rinaldo today told au.fourfourtwo.com: “Yes, Paul has been training with us and also Adelaide City but that’s it at the moment.”
There has also been some specualtion that United may sign Danny Hay and John Tambouras but Rinaldo was quick to pour cold water on any suggestion the pair could be heading to Hindmarsh Stadium.
Rinaldo said: "That’s the first I’ve heard of those names. I don’t know where
that’s come from.”
Meanwhile, as the injury problems continue to mount for coach Aurelio Vidmar
the club insists it will not be tempted to rush marquee player Paul Agostino
back into action before he is absolutely ready.
A foot injury means the former Socceroo will not take part in the club’s
pre-season fixtures but that doesn’t mean the player is currently idle.
Rinaldo said: “As I speak, Paul is pedalling away on the bike and working
hard.
“It doesn’t look as if he will play ahead of the A-League campaign but it’s
about getting him right. How often have you seen it (a player breaks down)
happen where you rush someone back before they’re ready.”
