Bentleigh Greens captain Jack Webster says Adelaide United should be fearing his side ahead of their FFA Cup semi-finals meeting.
Bentleigh progressed to the semi-finals of the FFA Cup on Wednesday night after downing NPL VIC champions Heidelberg 1-0 at home.
The Pagkyprio return to Kingston Heath Complex next Friday to thwart the Reds, who defeated APIA Leichhardt 2-0 away on Tuesday.
The Greens were knocked out of the NPL VIC semi-final after squandering a 3-1 lead to Avondale in the 115th minute.
But Webster’s side was full of motivation and was taking confidence from knocking out Wellington Phoenix in the Round of 32 of the cup.
“To be honest I think we can beat anyone and we don’t fear Adelaide,” the defender told FTBL.
“They should be fearing us to be honest. There’s no dramas playing against them. Especially in our changing room, we back ourselves against any team especially at home.
“That attitude gives us the ammunition and we don’t fear anybody, we’ve played great teams.
“Heidelberg are a great team and they offer a different kind of contest when you play against them compared to when you play against Wellington or Adelaide who might be a bit more technical, but you have to get past each team as they come.
“You can never reassure people and we’ve got some young boys in the team, but in saying that we’ve played Wellington and no one really got caught up in the drama of playing in an A-League team.
“Everyone took in their stride and focused on the performance, when we went down to 10-men, everyone stood by each other and we got through it. Everyone takes something from that game, especially playing with 10-men.”

Velibor Mitrovic and Ryan Scott have stood out for Bentleigh this season, but the skipper believes a lot of his players can play A-League.
“It’s annoying when you see young lads coming through, getting older and no one is taking the chance on him,” he said.
“Players should be getting a chance and I don’t understand why A-League teams don’t look at the NPL leagues from all states because there’s great talent there.
“When you look at guys like Kenny Athiu and Connor Pain and they’ve gone to do well. It’s frustrating because they don’t want to take that chance.
“There are a lot of boys in our side who should get a chance, not just on the bench, but even play in the A-League because you see certain players going around the A-League and you see they’ve have multiple chances and it’s like they’re going around in circles.
“It’s a great chance against Adelaide to show what we’re about.”
Webster has enjoyed the majority of his NPL days with Bentleigh, but also played for Sunshine George Cross.
The 28-year-old came from England and had a youth team contract at Scunthorpe United. He migrated to Australia after a friend of his down under convinced him to make the switch.
The Bentleigh skipper is now a full-time bricklayer in Melbourne and he believes his teammates’ juggling act can work in their favour against the Reds.
“I’m used to it now, going to work and playing or training. It’s not anything that’s unique to me because I’ve been doing it for that long,” Webster said.
“It would be great to put yourself up against an A-League team. They’re in their facilities preparing, compared to us, on game day, everyone on our team would’ve been working whereas the Adelaide boys will be just waiting for the game.”
