Adelaide United have suffered a devastating blow just before the finals, with import-striker Dzengis Cavusevic out with a knee injury.
The full extent of the injury is yet to be confirmed, with the club awaiting scans on Cavusevic's knee. The Slovenian striker has a goal and an assist so far for Marco Kurz' side in just over 200 minutes of football.
The injury-prone forward has previously torn his Anterior Cruciate Ligament twice, as well as a strain picked up in 2013. Between 2012 and 2014, Cavusevic was out injured for almost 450 days due to persistent knee injuries.
Adelaide next face last-placed Phoenix at Hindmarsh Stadium, with the Reds two points behind Melbourne Victory in fifth place. In good news for Adelaide, Baba Diawara, Ryan Strain and Ersan Gulum have all recently returned from injury concerns.
Despite Wellington's winless record under new coach Chris Greenacre, Kurz is wary of their improved performances.
"Maybe they are not in good form if you see the table," Kurz said. "But they are in very good form in their performances.
"They played a draw against Brisbane Roar, but they had chances for the victory. It was the same against Newcastle, they had three or four 100% chances to win the game."
