Adelaide United are going to axe Michael Valkanis, according to sources close to the club. The reason for this axing is because of his very serious knee injury, and the fact he turns 34 this year. It's understood they have 1 man, serious priority and target - this man is currently plying his trade in Romania, is currently 25 years old, has been capped 12 times for the Socceroos (1 time under Guus Hiddink), represented Australia at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and also played for Australia at the 2005 Confederations Cup in Germany. His name is none other then Brisbane-born Jonathan McKain. It's also understood that Queensland Roar, in particular coach Frank Farina, rejected the chance to shine McKain at the start of this season.
