Under a new deal between the club, Football Federation SA and the state government, Adelaide will return to the W-League.
But this time the side will be packed with local youngsters, rather than simply interstate stars flying in for each home game.
Adelaide United chairman Greg Griffin hopes the new-look side will see a turnaround in the club's W-League fortunes - and unearth a few stars of the future.
We're just waiting for the Department for Recreation and Sport to sign it off," Griffin told the Adelaide Advertiser.
"But we're starting with a clean slate, all jobs will be advertised and we're going to be heavily emphasising on youth.
"We'll be looking to give 16- to 20-year-olds a chance and in years to come we're hoping to produce Matildas."
He added: "The players must live here, train and be part of the team.
"Last season it was saddening watching the lack of motivation and the beltings."
