German import Daniel Adlung says Adelaide United must be switched on from the first minute after being forced to come from behind in their first two games of the season.
The Reds defeated Brisbane Roar 2-1 at Suncorp on Friday night but it took until the 88th minute to spark a turnaround after Massimo Macccarone’s 8th minute opener.
Adelaide found themselves in the same situation in round one when they went behind on five minutes before salvaging a 1-1 draw with Phoenix.
Adlung amitted it was a problem.
“It was like the same in Wellington,” he told Fox Sports.
“We are not awake enough in the first minutes. So we get all these trouble and problems. Now we have to make it better from the first minute until the end and then I think the coach will be more happy."
The German midfielder chipped in with an assist for the stoppage time winner, feeding the ball to Johan Absalonsen who fired off the inner crossbar and into goal.
He added: “The first half we have not so much confidence to play but I think after the first 30 minutes we came better into the game and the second half we played better than Brisbane and the Victory is good for us.”
After just two games in the A-League, the former 1860 Munich player says he likes what he sees.
“I think it’s more physical than in Germany,” he said of the league.
“In Germany sometimes in the second division is more tactical. But in Australia everybody is fighting, it’s running, it’s pushing forward and I like that style of football.
“We see in our game if we take the confidence we can win every game. But every game, I think, is close in the A-League so you can also lose every game. This is a hard competition and I like that.”
