MONACO have signed Freddy Adu from Benfica with a view to a permanent move, the Portuguese side has confirmed.
The United States international has so far failed to live up to the promise he showed as a youngster, which saw him make his professional debut in Major League Soccer at the age of just 14.
Adu, 19, made just 11 appearance after joining Benfica last year, but has been named in the US squad for this summer's Olympics.
