Zenit St Petersburg coach Dick Advocaat has been handed a three-match touchline ban by UEFA after being sent to the stands in the second leg of his side's UEFA Cup last-32 clash with Villarreal.
Advocaat was dismissed from the technical area by Danish referee Stefan Messner for gross misconduct in the second half of the game on Thursday, February 21.
Zenit lost the match 2-1 but still went through on the away goals rule and face French side Marseille in the last 16.
The ban will cover both legs on March 6 and 12, and one European club match after that.
Under the terms of the ban, Advocaat will not be allowed into his team's dressing room, in the tunnel or in the technical area before and during the match, nor is he permitted to contact his team during this time.
Zenit have yet to announce whether they will appeal the decision.
Last week Zenit sent a letter to UEFA complaining about Messner's handling of the match. He showed 10 yellow cards, all to Zenit players, including second yellows to Roman Shirokov and Radek Sirl as the Russians finished the game with nine men.
