UAE club Al Nasr have again had to move to quell talk of Socceroo Mark Bresciano's exit from the club after reports he had flown to Doha to complete a transfer to Al Gharafa.
Reports have been widespread this off-season that the 32-year-old Australian midfielder, who has one year remaining on his Al Nasr contract, is keen to depart the Dubai outfit.
The latest report came from Arabic daily Al Khaleej, who claimed that Bresciano had informed coach Walter Zenga of his intention to terminate his deal with the club, before leaving their pre-season camp to fly to Doha to join Al Gharafa.
However, Al Nasr director of football Arif Abbas told The National the club were determined to hold on to the Melbourne-born man.
"Mark Bresciano's contract with Al Nasr is valid for another season and the football company has not received any requests from any clubs asking for the services of the player," Abbas said.
"The clubs and players are bound by contracts governed by the regulations of the UAE Football Association and Fifa, and these contracts shape the relationship between the club and the player."
Bresciano played a key role last season, following his move from Lazio to Dubai, scoring 10 goals in 17 appearances as Al Nasr finished runners-up in UAE's Pro-League, clinching qualification to the 2013 AFC Champions League.
