Speculation has mounted on the 32-year-old Australian midfielder's future in recent weeks, with reports he had asked for the club to terminate his contract earlier in the month.

The latest rumour has seen Bresciano linked with 2008, 2009 and 2010 Qatari champions Al Gharafa who are said to be chasing an Asian player ahead of their 2013 AFC Champions League campaign.

The former Palermo and Lazio man is reportedly Al Gharafa's main target after failing in their pursuit of Iranian Javad Nekounam.

Bresciano returned to Al Nasr training earlier in the week amid mounting speculation, leading to Al Nasr general manager Khalid Obaid to clarify the situation.

“Bresciano has returned to pre-season training and remains an Al Nasr player. He will travel with us to Italy for a camp from August 21 to September 11,” he said in a statement.

“Until now, there is nothing regarding a move to Qatar. We have not received anything official and there is nothing in this.”

Earlier this month, Al Nasr board member Abdullah Al Bannai rubbished reports claiming Bresciano had asked to be freed from his contract, allegedly willing to pay a penalty clause to effect the release.

“There is no truth to the story. It’s just pure imagination,” Al Bannai said. “As far as we are concerned, Mark Bresciano is an Al Nasr player."

Bresciano netted 11 goals in 23 appearances for Al Nasr last term, helping them finish second and earn 2013 AFC Champions League qualification.
