DOHA, March 11 (Qatar League) - Recently crowned Qatar League champions Al Sadd suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Al Wakra on Sunday.
Al Wakra opened the scoring after 43 minutes through Mergani Al Zain's coolly-taken penalty.
Their joy was shortlived, though, as Oman International Khalifa Ayel restored parity just two minutes later, but Al Wakra sealed the win when Bosnian striker Darko Metrovic slotted home after 77 minutes.
Meanwhile, Al Rayyan were held to a 1-1 draw by Al Shamal.
Al Rayyan opened the scoring through Portuguese striker Joao Thomas, but Al Shamal claimed a share of the spoils one minute from time through Hamad Al Sadda.
