Twelve-time Qatar League champions Al Sadd suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Italian giants Roma in a friendly match in Italy.
Roma opened the scoring through their French defender Philippe Mexes on 21 minutes before Stefano Okaka doubled their advantage.
Al Sadd responded well in the second half with a spell of good pressure and they managed to reduce the deficit through Brazilian striker Leandro da Silva on 52 minutes.
The Qatar side will continue their pre-season preparations against Parma on Friday before meeting Chievo on August 5.
