England and Newcastle legend Alan Shearer has told press in England that Mark Viduka is one of the Premiership's most devastating strikers.
Shearer also told The Evening Chronicle that he believes Viduka and Michael Owen will form one of the most formidable partnerships in the Premiership.
"I am a huge fan of Mark Viduka and I think he is a great signing for Newcastle," said Shearer.
"In my view, he kept Middlesbrough in the Premiership on his own last season with 17 goals.
"Yes, he has got a history of injury problems, but so too have a lot of strikers of his style, but he has always come back from these injuries and done really well and I'm sure he could do the same again if necessary.
"Looking to the coming season, I think if Mark plays up front with Michael Owen then that combination could be quite tasty.
"On their day, there will not be many better partnerships in the Premiership than Viduka and Owen."
