SYDNEY FC have re-signed striker turned midfielder Alex Brosque on a two year extension to keep him at the club until April 2011.
Brosque - believed to be a target for Gold Coast United - could have left the Harbour City to take up a larger offer elsewhere, but the 25-year-old is more than happy to stay in Sky Blue.
“It’s not always about the money I guess, there’s a lot of factors you’ve got to take into account before you sign a contract,” he said.
“I think with the squad that we’ve got and the ambition that the club’s got, especially with new clubs coming in, I want to be involved in a club that’s already stable and is really going to challenge for honours in the next couple of years.”
Now Brosque hopes his off-contract team-mates will follow his lead.
“The group of boys that we’ve got, it’s a really good group, there’re no problems between any of us and it’s a real joy going to training every day,” Brosque explained.
“I think Sydney’s done very well by first of all attracting the names that they’ve been able to bring this year, and if they can resign most of the players coming off contract we’re going to be a real force in the years to come.
"I think the signs look really good for the club.”
A minor hamstring problem has kept him out of action for the last fortnight but he could be in line to make his return when Sydney host Central Coast Mariners in on Saturday night at Sydney Football Stadium.
