Rovers head to West Ham tomorrow after confidence-boosting back-to-back wins over Fulham and Wigan lifted them up to 11th, seven points above the drop zone.

However, the last time Blackburn won successive league games they followed up with a nine-game winless run that included five draws.

Naturally, Allardyce does not want such a scenario to develop again, undoing all their hard work of late.

"Back-to-back wins, at any stage of the season, are a massive bonus for us all," said Allardyce.

"We saw what it did for us last time when we beat Portsmouth and then Bolton.

"We all thought then that was a turning point, but sadly we didn't take full advantage of that.

"Instead of going on and winning more, we ended up drawing too many and started to get stick because we hadn't won one in nine.

"We've turned that around by winning two together again, so this time I want to go on and get the next win as quick as we can."

Wigan host an Everton side whose defeat against Birmingham last time out was their first in seven matches in all competitions.

Gary Caldwell, signed from Celtic earlier this month to bolster the Latics defence, is expecting a tough time against the Toffees but knows any result can have a big bearing on the standings.

"I feel we've more than enough quality in the dressing room to kick on and get enough points to keep us in this league.

"This division is so tight, and if you can put a run together you can find yourself in the top half of the table.

"We know we are capable of doing that, and we just have to put it all together and put it right on the park.

"It's Everton next who are playing well, but our home form has been good throughout the season and we have to make sure that remains the case on the day."

The KC Stadium hosts the potentially crucial match between Hull and Wolves, with Tigers defender Paul McShane talking up the fixture's importance to the relegation battle.

Hull start the weekend second bottom on 19 points, but Wolves, Burnley and West Ham are all just one point ahead of them.

That means victory tomorrow could pay huge dividends in terms of the battle at the bottom.

"It is an important game for us. Wolves are just ahead of us and we always say we have to beat the teams around us," said McShane.

"We are at home too so three points is pretty important. With three points we could go up three or four places.

"Wolves will be looking to get something from the game too. They are tough, well organised and will be hard to beat."

Birmingham host Tottenham as they look to bounce back from a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea on Wednesday night.

Prior to that Alex McLeish's side were undefeated in 15 games in all competitions.

One interesting sub-plot at St Andrew's is McLeish's stated interest in Spurs' out-of-favour striker Roman Pavlyuchenko.

Speaking ahead of the match, McLeish said: "I would certainly take Pavlyuchenko. But (I don't know) whether we could afford him and whether we could take that step, which is a big one for us to go for a player of that ilk.

"Certainly if the wages were not too outrageous then that would be something that would be reasonably attractive. He is a great player."

Also tomorrow, Fulham host Carling Cup finalists Aston Villa.

Villa defender Richard Dunne insists his side will not lose focus on the league despite their Wembley date.

"I think the target for the team is to finish higher than we did last year. Hopefully that could potentially mean a Champions League spot.

"We just need to make sure between now and February that the league is our bread and butter.

"We have three really tough games coming up in a row and, if we can nick some points out of them, it will kick-start our challenge for the final."
