The strike duo started for AC Milan in Sunday's 1-0 derby defeat to Inter in the Serie A, with Ibrahimovic saying after the match that his side's poor attacking display played a role in the loss.

But Allegri, whose side are preparing for a Coppa Italia fourth round clash against Novara on Wednesday, is confident the two can combine well up front.

"There is no problem between the two," Allegri said during a press conference on Tuesday. "It is just a matter of integrating better, which will happen as they play together.

"The whistles Pato received have not affected him. He was calm, both yesterday and today, I believe that he just needs to find the goal to regain some confidence.

"There is no doubt that his quality is different from what he has been showing."

Allegri also called on his side to bounce back from the loss against their rivals, and the coach said the cup was important to his team.

"The loss of the derby with Inter still hurts but we need to accept it. Luckily, we have a Coppa Italia match, which will allow us to get back on our feet and hopefully proceed to the next round, which is important for our season," Allegri said.

"We must be focused on the cup, because we can't keep complaining about Sunday's match.

"We have watched the game with the guys and analysed what went wrong but we can't do anything about the result now."
