Australia coach Pim Verbeek has given the V-Bomber until the end of the week to decide if he wants to feature in the squad for next month's World Cup qualifiers, with a spot left open for him.

As coach, teammates and supporters wait to hear Viduka's decision, the man whose penalty took Australia to the last World Cup is hoping that the Newcastle United striker will carry on.

Speaking exclusively to au.fourfourtwo.com, Aloisi said: "If Dukes wants to play then I think he should be in there. I don't think we have a player like him. Viduka has got more experience than the other strikers, in terms of playing at the highest level (domestically) and at a World Cup.

"I think Australia could do with him. But whatever he decides, I'm sure he'll make the right decision. If he keeps on playing overseas then I'm sure he'll continue to play at a high level.

"If he decides to come home at some point in the future then that would be brilliant for the A-League.  But as for the Socceroos let's hope he plays again for the national team."

As for Aloisi, he is just happy to be on a football field again rather than looking to far ahead to international issues.

He made his first appearance for Sydney FC in the 3-0 win over Sydney Tigers on Wednesday night, putting in a 30 minute shift at a chilly Lambert Park in the city's inner west.

"With each game that comes hopefully I'll play a little more and get fitter and fitter," he said.
