Brisbane Roar coach John Aloisi says he isn’t worried by speculation about his job in light of the club’s poor start to the 2017-18 season and is "happy" working with the club owners.
Roar’s woes were compounded on Tuesday when football director Craig Moore resigned amid talk he had grown frustrated with the club’s owners the Bakrie Group.
Brisbane have finished third in both of Aloisi’s full seasons in charge since taking over in May 2015 but currently sit ninth with three wins from 16 matches.
Aloisi has endured a long injury list this season but reinforcements haven’t been forthcoming during January, leaving his hands tied.
He will be boosted by the returns of Brett Holman, Eric Bautheac and Corey Gameiro from injury for Thursday’s clash with Perth Glory, but initially mentioned without prompting the club’s “tough few years” during Wednesday’s press conference.
When asked about his job, Aloisi said: “Everyone has spoken about this enough. The club has shown what they want in the future and what they’re trying to do in the future and I’m part of it.
“I’m not focused on that. If you do, you start to make decisions which aren’t the right decisions.
“I need to make sure I’m clear in my mind about what I want, which I am.
“I’m still very positive with the group. The future looks bright with the young players we’re bringing through.”
Aloisi moved to clarify he had no concerns with the club’s ownership.
“I’m happy with the way we’re working at the moment and hopefully we’ll keep on improving,” he said.
“You can always improve as a football club. It’s been no secret we’ve had some difficult situations.”
He added: “We’re always in discussions and trying to improve and get better. It’s been like that since I first arrived.
“We’re always trying to improve. All I can do is my best with the club, the owners and the managing director and work forward.”
