John Aloisi is not about to call time on his Socceroo career with the striker’s sights set firmly on the 2010 World Cup.
The forward, who bagged Australia’s goal in the Asian Cup exit to Japan, still believes he has a part to play at international level, whoever the new coach proves to be.
"I have never talked about retirement. That's way off the mark," he told the Adelaide Advertiser.
"I said I might not be around for the next Asian Cup (2011) after the next World Cup.
"To be honest I still think I've got a lot to offer for Australia.
"We wanted to at least get to the semi-finals. We've only got ourselves to blame.
"If we had won our group we’d have played Vietnam to get to the semi-finals."
Aloisi also poured cold water on reports in the press that there had been a rift in the Socceroos camp during the tournament.
He said: "There was no rift. There was never any arguing between ourselves.
"Of course there's disappointment after you lose but no-one blamed anyone else and no-one had a problem with anyone else.
"We’re a group that not only has been to the last World Cup but we’ve always stuck together."
It looks highly unlikely that Aloisi’s Australian adventure will continue under Graham Arnold but the striker is not about to get drawn into the name game regarding a potential successor.
He said: "It's up to the FFA to make the right decision and we've got to stick by it."
