EXCLUSIVE: John Aloisi is unsure whether his move to Sydney FC will be the one that marks the final chapter in his domestic football career.
The harbour city’s new marquee player certainly feels there’s plenty left in the tank to see him through the next two years of his contract and he is not in the mood for gazing into a crystal ball beyond that.
Aloisi will be 34 when his current deal expires. Certainly money shouldn’t be an issue at that stage with the striker no doubt having long since secured his financial future through spells both home and abroad. Whether he is then prepared to pen a new deal (or one is offered) or seek one last switch remains to be seen.
All that bothers Aloisi now is getting down to business with his new club and scoring goals in the 2008/09 campaign.
He told au.fourfourtwo.com: “I don’t know whether this does prove to be the last move. It’s hard to say as anything can happen in football.
“Careers can take all sorts of different turns. You could have your first and last big move when you’re 21 or 22. It might come later, it might never come.
“I’m just happy to have signed for Sydney FC for two years. Once that comes to an end we’ll assess whether that’s enough or I go on and sign a fresh deal here, elsewhere, who knows?
“As I said, it’s about dealing with the next challenge in my career and helping Sydney FC to be successful for the next two seasons in the A-League.”
Sydney FC coach John Kosmina is just delighted to have the John Aloisi of ‘now’ along with fellow additions Mark Bridge and Simon Colosimo.
Kosmina feels Sydney FC have lacked a ‘sniffer’ striker and that Aloisi and Bridge can help pinch the missing goals for his side.
