Roar marquee, Massimo Maccarone, opened the scoring on eight minutes only to see his side brushed aside in a late four-minute blitz at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.

Ryan Kitto (88’) and Johan Absalonsen (92’) did the damage for the Reds, who have now picked up four points on the road.

For Roar it's back-to-back losses after falling 2-0 to Melbourne City in the opening round.

“It was disappointing that we didn’t put the game away, probably even in the first half we had some really good chances – one on ones with the keeper,” Aloisi said of the 2-1 loss.

“And they didn’t really have anything in the first half. They had a bit of the ball but didn’t have a lot of opportunities.”

Maccarone: Late loss 'unbelievable'

Absalonsen: 'A performance Reds can be proud of'

Aelaide coach Marco Kurz implemented a gruelling regime to get his players match ready for the season start but Aloisi wasn’t sold.

“Look their fitness is a bit of a myth,” he said.

“They came home strong because we’ve got players that still aren’t at a level of fitness because we’ve had a disrupted pre-season.

“Of course they’re going to talk about fitness because they ended up scoring two goals in the last five minutes.”

Roar have suffered off-season injuries to key players, and visa delays for French import Eric Bautheac, but despite a dire start to the campaign, Aloisi remained upbeat.

“It’s disappointing to not win,” he said.

“It’s disappointing to now have two losses in a row but there’s one thing we can do. We can either rollover and feel sorry for ourselves or we can fight and make sure we’re ready for the next game and I know what I’m going to do. I expect my players to fight as well.”
