Roar were reduced to 10 men after Matt McKay’s red card shortly before half-time but held on for only their third win of the season from 13 games, to move up to eighth and within three points of the top six.

Aloisi’s side have been inconsistent all season, unable to string together back-to-back wins, but the Roar boss was confident the win in Adelaide would be the turning point.

“I think that mentally it is,” Aloisi said.

“When you go down to 10 men, you’re away from home and you defend like we did against a very good Adelaide side it shows the character.

“It will be a turning point. The boys want to keep winning and tomorrow night is another opportunity for that.”

Brisbane takes on Western Sydney at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night, before another home match against Sydney FC on Monday night.

Aloisi wasn’t looking ahead to Monday’s game, but said the momentum gained for the Adelaide win could see them rise up the table with the quick back-to-back games.

“We’re back at home after a really good result down in Adelaide,” he said.

“We wanted to get back to winning ways. Hopefully that continues tomorrow night.

“We know we need to start winning football games to climb up the table where we want to be and where we think we deserve to be.”

Aloisi confirmed Daniel Bowles would return to the matchday squad after injury, while he cleared Thomas Kristensen of any concerns despite missing some training this week.

“TK was fine. That was his first 90 minutes in Adelaide,” he said.
