Roar takes on Glory at nib Stadium on Saturday night with an under-strength side, before facing Kashima Antlers at Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday in the AFC Champions League (ACL).

Brisbane currently sits third on the table with two rounds to play, three points ahead of Melbourne City, with Western Sydney a further point back.

The Glory trip could be key for Roar’s bid to finish third and secure a home final and an ACL berth for next season but Aloisi defended his decision.

“The A-League is about winning the grand final,” Aloisi said.

“I’m preparing to make sure we win this weekend and that we’re going into the finals series preparing to win it.

“I can’t play every single player from now until the end of the season each game as they’d just be burnt out with the travel and the amount of games.”

He added: “I need make sure, especially with the older players, that they recover. We check the loading all the time. Make sure they’re fresh leading into finals.

“It doesn’t mean that we’re not going to Perth to ty and get the result and win the game. We’re confident with the players we put out there that we’re going to win it.”

Among those included in the Roar squad for the trip west are youngsters Nathan Konstandopoulos, Shannon Brady, Kye Rowles and Cameron Crestani.

“We’ve created a squad that there’s good healthy competition,” Aloisi said.

“We’ve brought a lot of the younger boys up to a level that I can afford to change players during a period like this.

“This was my plan from the end of last season, thinking that we’d make Champions League and that we wanted to go and win the grand final.”

Aloisi also refused to be drawn on top scorer Jamie Maclaren’s future with his contract unresolved beyond this season.

“Contracts are always being talked about,” Aloisi said.

“In this busy period, I just want to leave it until the end of the season.

“We’ve got important games coming up and if I start to talk about contracts with players in the media, then the players will lose focus.

“I don’t want them to lose focus. They know if they play well and do well, it’ll probably be there for them at the end of the season.”
