Roar were winless in the opening six rounds of the A-League campaign, before salvaging a finals place with four wins from their final six games.

However, Brisbane bowed out of the finals with a 2-0 loss to Melbourne City on Friday night at AAMI Park.

Looking ahead to 2018/19, Aloisi revealed his assessment of the 2017/18 campaign, laying blame for their failures squarely on their pre-season.

"We'll start pre-season on June 4 and the majority of our players will be there," Aloisi said.

"We'll start earlier than previous seasons because we know we need to get pre-season right.

"Our pre-season this year was a disaster.

"We had to play catch-up ever since and ended up spending too much energy playing catch-up."

Aloisi wouldn't be drawn on the specific reasons why he defined pre-season as disastrous but eluded to the sacking of managing director Mark Kingsman in October.

"We've had three MDs in the past two-and-a-half seasons," he said. "As a football club, we're now heading in the right direction.

"We've got our own training facility now. We've re-structured a lot of things within the club in terms of medical and high performance and we're getting those things right."

Roar has a long list of off-contract players, including Massimo Maccarone, Fahid Ben Khalfallah and Matt McKay, but Aloisi wouldn't confirm any player movement.

"There will be some changes in personnel in terms of our players which is normal," he said.

"We'll prepare well for next season. We'll be better next season, 100 per cent we'll be better."

He added: "I dont want to talk about who has played their last game, who hasn't, because I haven't spoken to the players about it.

"I'm sure a few players will know their time might be up. Until we speak as a group and as coaches with individual players then I'm not going to comment on that.

"There's 17 players still out of contract. We'll start to announce signings and players re-signing in the next week or so."
