Brisbane Roar coach John Aloisi says his men could have been braver in their 2-0 season opening loss to Melbourne City at AAMI Park on Friday night.
Bruce Kamau netted a brace as City finished with a total of 11 shots to Roar’s six, but Aloisi felt it was a relatively even game overall.
“It was disappointing we conceded a sloppy goal before half-time, we thought we’d be a bit more on top in the first half,” Aloisi said.
“We probably weren’t positive but in the second half, we had 20 – 30 minutes where we controlled the game (and) just lacked that cutting edge.
“We created more chances and better chances than they did but then we conceded another sloppy goal and it killed the game a bit.”

Consistency is the Joyce shtick
Import Massimo Maccarone struggled to get into the game and Aloisi admitted the striker would be frustrated with the lack of service.
“He moved well, I don’t think we used him as well as we could’ve,” he admitted.
“Instead we went sideways, probably because it was the first game of the season, some players play a bit safe instead of being brave.
“Sometimes we could’ve been more positive and played the ball forward quicker.”
