John Aloisi may yet become an A-League player by next seson. The Alaves striker is certain to leave his club Alaves when the Spanish season concludes as a free agent and is currently being courted by sides, including Sydney FC.

Sydney are committed to signing a marquee player for the start of the new A-League season and Aloisi is emerging as the leading candidate with negotiations with Philip Cocu drawing out.

Money is still the sticking point with Australian clubs finding it more difficult to compete with the stronger European currencies.

Queensland Roar has already declared they are now out of the running to sign Aloisi but will now step up their bid for Socceroo defender Craig Moore.

Farina has previously told FourFourTwo that Moore would be an ideal player for Roar and is a player he had spoken with even before the end of Version 2 of the A-League. Roar will have to compete with Roy Keane's Sunderland to capture the native Queenslander for next season accoring to reports in The Daily Telegraph.
