Brisbane Roar coach John Aloisi says he has no complaints about Melbourne Victory’s 1-0 win in last night’s semi-final at AAMI Park.
Besart Berisha scored the only goal of the game in the 70th minute after Victory looked in full control for most of the game.
Aloisi was gracious in defeat and admitted the plan was to sit off and wait for a counter-attacking opportunity.
“Victory were the better side on the night from start to finish, they deserve to win the game,” Aloisi conceded.
“I was hoping they wouldn’t have their rhythm coming into the game because they had the weekend off but they looked fresher.
“They were physically a lot stronger than us and we struggled to really get into the game, they didn’t allow us to, that was the biggest thing. I’ve got no complaints about them winning. I’m just disappointed we finished our season just missing out on making a Grand Final.”
Aloisi said he was proud of his players for reaching the semi-final while playing in the AFC Asian Champions League (ACL).
Roar striker Brandon Borello felt his team has done well to cope with the scheduling.
“We’ve come in leaps and bounds, a lot of speculation about the ACL and how Brisbane Roar haven’t done so well, but Victory finished sixth in the ACL last year and we finished third,” Borello said.
“We’ve had a hectic schedule and this is where we end up, it’s a shame, we’re going to pick ourselves up and keep looking forward.”
