The Mariners travel to Sydney FC on Saturday with both teams looking to build on their victories in round nine.

Aloisi will face his former teammates buoyed by his first A-League goal in the 2-0 win at Melbourne Victory.

And Simon says the alarm bells should be ringing in the Mariners camp because he knows from his own situation how a goal can change a forward's game aftera prolonged drought.

Speaking to au.fourfourtwo.com today Simon said: "Scoring in my first game of the season (against Newcastle Jets) was a massive relief. All of a sudden you go out there on to the pitch and you're not worried any more.

"You just play your natural game and it does make a difference.

"Obviously Johnny's copped a bit of stick (about his lack of goals) but now he's got one in the win at Melbourne then I'm sure he'll have that same relief.

"He'll be wanting more goals now and to help Sydney build on that good win."

Simon revealed he had climbed out of his sick bed to play in the Mariners win over Newcastle Jets last week but now fully recovered he's looking forward to Saturday's trip to the Sydney Football Stadium.

He said: "I'm sure it'll be a good crowd there and I'm sure there'll be some goals as well.

"It's not a ground where I've scored before so it would be great to do it this weekend.

"It's an important match. They're two points ahead of us at the moment and obviously that stretches to five if they were to win."
