Nicholas Harrhy was unlucky in the 10th minute when he found himself through to the goals only to push the ball past the left post.

Ten minutes in Andy Vlahos crossed a great ball to Alexander Josifovski, who’s header was saved by the Altona keeper to keep them in the game.

Both teams shared the play, but Coburg clearly created more of the chances but were unable to capitalise.

Altona made Coburg pay when a free kick was awarded outside the box.

Pece Siveski bent a brilliant free kick into the top right corner giving Coburg’s keeper no chance in the 35th minute to put Altona up.

Altona continued to extend their lead when Henry Fa’Arodo was left spare to take on the keeper one-on-one, easily disposing of the clinical finish to take Altona 2-0 up in the 62nd minute.

Altona were then under pressure as Coburg lifted its intensity to fight back.

Altona had to clear several attempts off the line and defend profusely to contain its lead.

In the 71st minute Harrhy took it upon himself to try a great strike outside the box, only to be denied by the Altona keeper.

Coburg finally broke through when substitute Caner Ucarli shot a rocket inside the box, to go 2-1 down in the 82nd minute.

But the Magic held on to its lead to take the three points.

“We needed this performance, and especially after the poor last couple of games we played," Altona coach Vlado Tortevski said.

"The next few weeks we have some hard games."
