CENTRAL Coast Mariners prodigy Mustafa Amini has been drafted in to replace the injured Terry Antonis in the Olyroos squad after the Sydney FC teenager failed a late fitness test.
Antonis was tested by FFA’s Head of Medical Services, Dr Jeff Steinweg, Sydney FC team doctor Dr Andrew McDonald and Sydney FC physiotherapist, Stan Ivancic.
But Antonis was unable to complete the tasks required and has now bee ruled out of the upcoming two matches against Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates.
Antonis was disappointed that he will not be able to join the squad but is confident the Under 23s can do the job away from home.
“I’m disappointed that I won’t be able to represent Australia in these games,” Antonis said this morning.
“I love playing for my country and was really looking forward to playing in these two important matches.
“I’m sure the boys will be able to get the job done and I wish Aurelio and the team good luck.”
