Beckham was reportedly set for a move to the Parisian outfit, yet the deal fell through after Ancelotti took control, with the former Manchester United man now likely to sign a further contract with LA Galaxy.

"We had the possibility to have Beckham," Ancelotti said. "But Beckham decided to stay in Los Angeles because his family requested him."

Ancelotti, who coached Beckham during his spell at AC Milan, insists he maintains a good relationship with the 36-year-old, possibly leaving the door open for a future spell with the Ligue 1 side.

"It is not our business, we asked him if he wanted to play but he decided to stay," he said.

"We and the club maintain a good relationship with him and wish him luck for the future."
