Serie A heavyweights Milan have made a slow start to the Italian domestic season, with a return of one win and two losses from three league matches played to date.

On Tuesday they host Belgian champions Anderlecht, with Van den Brom hopeful of springing a surprise in the match at San Siro.

"Yes, we have to exploit this moment and take advantage of Milan's defeat at home," he said, referring to Milan's 1-0 reverse against Atalanta on Sunday.

"We have a small advantage, but we have to think only about this game because every match is different.

"We have to look after the quality game and think about this match. Then we will think about next games."

But despite the importance of the opportunity presented to them by Milan's poor form, Van den Brom rejected suggestions the fixture would determine his team's Champions League destiny.

"Absolutely not," he said when asked if the Milan game would prove decisive to Anderlecht's hopes in the competition.

"We have six games ahead. Whatever the result will be, it won't be decisive. It will be important to do everything, to fight to get a good result. The commitment of the players is important for our campaign."
